Frequently asked questions

Answers before you arrive

If you are new to offline poker or simply planning your first visit to our coastal restaurant and poker salon, these notes will help you feel at ease from the moment you walk in.

Offline poker & Card Lounge etiquette

Do I need offline poker experience to join a poker night?

Not at all. Many guests visit Kiwii Play Sunlit Cardhouse for their first experience of face-to-face poker. Our hosts explain the flow of Texas Hold'em, help you find a comfortable seat and keep the atmosphere relaxed and conversational.

What is the tone of the Card Lounge?

The Card Lounge feels like a relaxed coastal club rather than a traditional casino. Lighting is warm, conversation is encouraged and the focus is on shared moments around the poker tables, not high-stakes tension.

Is there guidance on poker table etiquette?

Yes. Our team offers gentle reminders of poker table etiquette, such as waiting for your turn, keeping cards visible on the felt and respecting other guests' pace. If you are curious to learn more before visiting, explore our editorial pieces on table etiquette in the Texas Hold'em and Card Room Culture pages.

Dress code, accessibility & dietary needs

Is there a dress code?

Think relaxed coastal polish: neat, comfortable clothing suitable for a modern Australian restaurant. Smart denim, linen, light knits and soft tailoring all feel at home in both the dining room and Card Lounge.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Our kitchen can accommodate a wide range of dietary requests, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-conscious and dairy-light options. Please let us know your needs via the booking form or over the phone so we can plan your menu with care.

Is the venue accessible?

Both the restaurant and Card Lounge feature step-free access, with accessible restrooms and flexible seating. If you or a guest would benefit from additional support, mention this in your enquiry and we will prepare an appropriate table location and arrival path.

Sunlit Cardhouse team

People who bring the cardhouse to life

Kiwii Play Sunlit Cardhouse is shaped by chefs, hosts and poker specialists who share a love of coastal Australian hospitality and the simple pleasure of gathering around a table.

Restaurant & kitchen

Our culinary team works with local producers, seasonal seafood and timber-grilled favourites to create a menu that feels both refined and relaxed. Dishes are designed to be shared, making it easy for guests to move from lunch to cocktails to a late-night snack between poker hands.

Ask the team for their favourite dish before a long Texas Hold'em session.

Poker hosts & dealers

Our Card Lounge hosts keep the focus on social connection. They introduce new players to offline poker, guide regulars to the right tables and ensure the pace of each poker event matches the mood of the evening.

From shuffling playing cards to explaining blinds, they are here to support, not to intimidate.

Hospitality & events

The events and front-of-house team coordinates the flow of reservations, private functions and poker nights. They are your main contact when planning dinner & poker experiences, balancing timings, table setups and any special touches you have in mind.

Share your ideas, and they will help you weave restaurant, lounge and card room moments into one smooth story.
